SRLP mourns the loss of a transgender activist, leader and fierce fighter

SRLP is sad to report that Tracy Bumpus passed away Friday, June 17.

Tracy was a long time grassroots organizer, a transgender woman of color, a Native American woman. She has been working with TGNC & HIV+ folks for about the last 14 years. Tracy has a BS in Community and Human Services, with one semester left in her MA in Social Policy, she ultimately wanted to complete a PhD.

Tracy successfully took on anti-trans discrimination in the New York City transit system and is one of the main people responsible for the Welfare Justice Coalition victory in pushing New York City's welfare office , the Human Resources Administration, into passing a procedure to stop discrimination against transgender and gender non conforming people who are accessing welfare services.

Tracy was a close friend, alley and comrade of SRLP community. We will  miss her deeply. Information about an east coast memorial coming soon.
