SRLP and Allies Win Major Victory for Trans Homeless People

Since 2003, representatives from the Sylvia Rivera Law Project (SRLP), Queers for Economic Justice, and the Gender Identity Project have been meeting with the New York City Department of Homeless Services to push them to comply with the changes passed to the New York City Human Rights Law in 2002 prohibiting discrimination on the basis of gender identity and expression. Toilet Training

Toilet Training is a documentary video addressing the persistent discrimination, harassment, and violence that people who transgress gender norms face in gender segregated bathrooms. Using the stories of people who have been harassed, arrested or beaten for trying to use bathrooms, Toilet Training focuses on bathroom access in public space, in schools, and at work.
