Register today for Small Works for Big Change and I’ll see you Saturday!

On Saturday, I’ll be joining Tiq Milan as a co-host of SRLP’s 9th Annual Small Works for Big Change, an art benefit featuring the work of members of SRLP’s Prisoner Advisory Committee. If you haven’t already, please register to attend the free event on Saturday and make a donation if you can! Visit http://srlp.org/bigchange

As SRLP’s Director of Membership, I see the impact of our work every day on trans and gender nonconforming community members who come through our doors for name changes and help with immigration. I see the impact on incarcerated community members seeking gender-affirming clothing and healthcare in prison. When our community members marched outside the Department of Health last month demanding an end to medicaid exclusions for trans people, I saw the strength of SRLP’s growing community working to end systemic poverty, racism, and transphobia.

I can feel our power.

Small Works for Big Change celebrates and raises funds to support this work. I hope you will join me this Saturday, March 8 from 5-9 p.m. at Jack Studios on 601 West 26th Street, NYC.

In addition to over 100 works of art that you can bid on at Small Works for Big Change, we have an inspiring group of entertainers, including DJ Precolumbian and our special guests, the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, who will also offer tarot readings. You can shop for prints, jewelry, and pottery at our first ever pop-up shop, get glamour shots taken with your friends, and enter to win raffle prizes, including roundtrip plane tickets for two.

We’re also excited to announce that Azucar will host DE COLORES an After Party and Benefit for SRLP from 10pm-4am at One Last Shag this Saturday, with proceeds from the door ($5-$20 sliding scale) benefiting SRLP. Get more information about the after party.

We want to make the event check-in easy for everyone, so please register online now at http://srlp.org/bigchange, make a donation if you can, and encourage your friends to do so as well! Together we can ensure that SRLP continues our work to build a world where none of us are disposable.

See you on Saturday for a fabulous and irresistible night of creativity, celebration, and self-determination!

P.S. Can’t attend, but want to support SRLP’s work? Make a donation today. If you are interested in proxy bidding, contact Avi, SRLP’s Director of Grassroots Fundraising, at avi@srlp.org
