With only 36 hours before the deadline, we mobilized more than 300 people to sign our letter to the NY Health Department letting them know just how important #transhealthcarenow is to our communities. Thank you for joining us in telling them that, while the Sylvia Rivera Law Project, TransJustice of the Audre Lorde Project, and GLOBE: The LGBTQ Justice Organization of Make the Road New York celebrate New York State’s proposed Medicaid regulation as an important step towards safe and affirming healthcare for trans people, we will not stop until we have real access to healthcare for all trans people. As it stands, the new regulation will not cover all of the life-saving surgeries or medical needs of our trans and gender nonconforming communities, particularly trans women, trans youth, low-income trans people, trans people in prison, and undocumented trans people.
We could not do this work without you. Thank you for helping us strengthen our demands for fully inclusive trans healthcare.
Our next membership meeting on the trans healthcare campaign will be held at the SRLP office on Tuesday, March 3, from 6-8 PM.
Register NowMembership meetings are open to all, so we hope you will join us. Stay tuned for campaign organizing meetings and more ways to support SRLP’s work by visiting http://srlp.org/events.
In Love and Justice,
Sasha Alexander, SRLP Director of Membership
