SRLP is excited to hear that with an independent panel review coming to a close, the Department of Health and Human Services is expected to end Medicare’s blanket ban on gender-affirming surgery for transgender people. If passed, this decision will send an important message in support of SRLP’s argument that repealing Medicaid exclusions for trans people in New York State is a necessary change that will enable our community members to meet our most basic health care needs. We urge HHS to make this commitment!

my name is indio hasan i am the spouse of iliana hasan i trully believe in this campaign the chart rates are outstanding. i believe if trans people receive this benefit it would cost less for medicaid over all to treat these people who are substance abusers maybe if they got the treatment they need it wold save thousands of lives and 100s of thousand s of dollars in treatment costs. i know for a fact that this campaign should follow through. i think it would be foolish of medicaid not to pay attention to cold hard facts.
