When: Tuesday, July 10, 2018, 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm (iCal) Where: SRLP (Sylvia Rivera Law Project), 147 W 24th St, 5th Floor, New York, NY (See map)
Do you identify as non-binary or gender non-conforming (“GNC”)? SRLP wants to hear from you!
The New York City Council is considering a proposal that would allow a person to amend their NYC birth certificate to include an “X” gender designation. The proposal would also allow someone to self-attest their gender identity, so you would no longer need a doctor letter to change the sex on your New York City birth certificate!
SRLP is hosting a discussion night on Tuesday, July 10 from 6-8 pm to discuss this proposal and other issues facing GNC and non-binary individuals. We want to hear from people in the community who would be most affected by this proposal, and we want to provide an opportunity for you to write to the Council to voice your opinion. Of course, if you do not identify as GNC or non-binary, we welcome your thoughts as well! The comments are due to the Council on July 24th, 2018 so now is your time to participate in this process.
SRLP looks forward to seeing you on July 10th!
