Are you a community member? Take our COVID-19 relief survey to help us assess the needs of the community to move forward with mutual aid, micro-grant applications, and plugging members into other aid networks.
Are you a supporter interested in volunteering? Take our COVID-19 Volunteer Asisstance survey to help us assess volunteer interest and ability to aid in work that relieves our community members as they struggle with the effects of the pandemic.
SRLP is responding to the urgent needs of our community during this unprecedented moment by establishing a micro-grants committee to address systemic barriers for the survival and self-determination of our community:
- Financial Relief for Self-Determination – providing one-time financial assistance (check or paypal)
- Technologies for Leadership Development – providing laptops and technological education
- Technologies for Digital Divide – providing cell phones to keep our community members connected and safe
- Prisoner Advisory Committee Commissary for COVID-19 relief
Microgrant applications will open Monday, June 8 and will close Wednesday, July 8.
The micro-grants are new developments for SRLP in envisioning ways to keep supporting, uplifting and addressing needs for our people, by our people.
Grassroots fundraising—individual contributions from our supporters—allow us the flexibility to move resources directly to our membership: transgender, gender non-conforming, and intersex people of color and low-income TGNCI people. In June 2020, we are calling on our community to help us raise $50,000 through grassroots donors. This supports two objectives: supporting our sustainability in movements for trans liberation rooted in racial and economic justice by raising $25,000 needed to cover operating costs as our fiscal year comes to an end, and to move $25,000 directly to our community–TGNC people of color and low-income TGNC people impacted by COVID-19. If we can reach our goal, we will be able to continue to provide microgrants to SRLP members through the summer!
