  • SRLP fights to stop sexual assault in detention

    On May 10, 2010, SRLP submitted comments supporting regulations that would implement the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA).  We also urge the Attorney General to make certain important changes  in the regulations to protect the rights of trans, intersex, and gender nonconforming people in terms of searches, placement, discipline, and release.   • Condolences to the family and friends of Amanda Gonzalez-Andujar

    The Sylvia Rivera Law Project is sad to share the news that a trans woman named Amanda Gonzalez-Andujar was found dead in her Glendale Queens apartment on Tuesday. She had not been heard from since last Friday. Police are investigating the murder, including reviewing surveillance video taken from inside the building. Read more »
