  • Small Works for Big Change Success!!
    SRLP's 5th Annual Benefit event raised about $22,000! Still tallying the totals, but the fundraiser was a huge success! Check out the picture below of the packed crowd at Participant Gallery on 2/18/10, and more pictures here! Major thanks go out to all who donated art, volunteered, donated refreshments, framing, raffle prizes, printing costs, and gallery space. So many people helped to raise these funds to support SRLP's crucial work for gender liberation!

  • Victory in fight for access to benefits for trans communities!

    After years of widespread community pressure to end discrimination against transgender people trying to access public benefits in NYC, we are thrilled to announce that the Human Resources Administration (HRA) has adopted new procedures for working with transgender and gender nonconforming clients!  To learn more about the procedures, please see our fact sheet.


  • SRLP Comments on Proposed Changes to DC's Anti-Discrimination Law

    The DC Office of Human Rights is attempting to make an exception to anti-discrimiantion law for the Department of Corrections. The DC Trans Coalition is organizing around this issue, more can be learned at their website, here or www.dctc.squarespace.com


  • SRLP announces our legal clinic in the Bronx!

    In a collaborative effort with the Bronx Community Pride Center, SRLP will hold legal clinics in the Bronx every third Monday of each month. The clinics will be held between 6pm-8pm at the Bronx Community Pride Center, which is located at 448 east 149th street. Take the 2 or 5 train to the 149th street/3rd avenue stop. Clients will be seen on a first come, first serve basis.


  • SRLP heading to Critical Resistance 10 Conference!

    SRLP Collective and community members will be heading to the Critical Resistance 10 Conference in Oakland, CA from Sept 26th-28th.


  • SRLP collaborates with an international law firm to help trans and gender non conforming prisoners in need of name changes

    August 2008- The Sylvia Rivera Law Project has announced an innovative name change clinic that will serve trans and gender non conforming prisoners in need of acquiring legal name changes.


  • The Administration for Children's Services changes their policy for transgender youth in foster care

    New York - On June 20th, 2008 The Administration for Children's Services (ACS) Commissioner John Mattingly signed a new non-discrimination policy that specifically prohibits ACS staff and contract agencies from discriminating on the basis of gender identity.
